Documents seized from Maulana Abdur Rahman's house at Feni
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday seized some documents of the extremist group "Harkatul Jihad" from the residence of Maulana Abdur Rahman at Feni, reports BSS.
A team of the CID led by Assistant Police Super (ASP) Munshi Atiqur Rahman raided the residence of Maulana Abdur Rahman at Nazir Road in Feni town in the early hours of today.
Police seized some papers, leaflets and booklets on arms training written in Urdu and two bullet belts from the house but the alleged leader of the extremists escaped earlier.
Police suspect that Maulana Abdur Rahman is one of the godfathers of the extremist group and had gone into hiding after the arrest of some of their cadres in the capital in connection with the attack on Poet Shamsur Rahman on January 18.
Investigation officer of the case Abdur Razzak Khan said another team of the CID led by an ASP left Dhaka for some strategic areas in greater Chittagong lastnight for finding out the training centres of the terrorist group. The CID already sent message to Chittagong for arresting one Maulana Atiqur Rahman who is said to be another godfather of Harkatul Jihad, the IO added.
