Dhaka-17 by-polls on July 17

The by-election to the Dhaka-17 constituency will be held on July 17, the as per the schedule announced by the Election Commission this afternoon.

Jahangir Alam, secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, told reporters that the last date for filing nomination papers for the by-election is June 15.

Nomination papers will be scrutinised on June 18.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is June 25.

The election will be held in the seat vacated after the death of film actor and member of parliament Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque.
