Clashes erupt at SCBA elections again
Pro- BNP lawyers attacked and vandalised the polling booths during the annual Supreme Court Bar Association elections around 3:30pm today chanting "Joy Bangla", reports our correspondent from the spot.
They vandalised fans, chairs, tables and other furniture at the Shaheed Shafiur Rahman Auditorium, and police went into action again to control the situation.
Following this, pro-Awami League lawyers brought out processions in the court premises protesting the attacks.
Earlier this noon, at least 10 journalists were injured after police assaulted them when they were covering the election. Several pro-BNP lawyers were also hurt.
Witnesses said police first entered the Shaheed Shafiur Rahman Auditorium to evacuate the protesting lawyers. At one stage, pro-BNP and pro-Awami League lawyers started fighting and police became involved.
The law enforcers attacked journalists when they were taking photos and videos of police action on the protesting lawyers, injured journalists and witnesses told The Daily Star.
