“Aha” screened at three international film festivals
Recently, Enamul Karim Nirjhar's film Aha was screened at three international festivals -- Cairo International Film Festival, Silk Road Film Festival and Dubai International Film Festival. Aha's tour began in late November and continued till mid December.
In late November, Aha participated at the 31st session of the Cairo International Film Festival in Egypt. Along with Bollywood blockbusters such as Rang De Basanti and Guru, Aha took part in the “Festival of the Festival” session. Aha had three shows at the festival.
In the first week of December Aha attended the Silk Road Film Festival in Bursa, Turkey. Later, Aha participated at the prestigious Dubai International Film Festival in the UAE during the second week of December.
Sharing his experiences at the festivals, Nirjhar said, “Aha was appreciated at every festival. A remarkable number of foreigners and Bangladeshi expatriates watched the movie. Aha helped form a different impression of Bangladesh to the foreigners as most of the Bangladeshi films participating at the international festivals have rural themes. Aha highlights the complexity in urban life.”
Earlier Aha, an Impress Telefilm production, participated at the Munich Film Festival in June, in the 'New Asian Cinema' category. Three shows of Aha were held at the festival.
Humayun Faridee, Tariq Anam Khan, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shathi Yasmin, Ferdaus, Khaled Khan and others have played in the central roles. Songs used in the film have been written by Nirjhar and set to tune by Indian music director Devjyoti Misra.
