ACC chief says donation to relief fund won't spare corrupt
Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury yesterday said corrupt people, who are donating to the government relief fund, should not think their contributions will spare them from future anti-graft actions.
"There is no relationship between anti-corruption drives and donations to the relief fund," he said at a view-exchange meeting on fighting corruption at Shaheed Zia Hall in Narayanganj.
The ACC chairman said it would not be acceptable if the proposed Truth Commission is all about allowing a certain quarter to get off scot-free.
"No understanding has been reached in this regard with the Anti-Corruption Commission," he said.
Mashhud called on all to build up social movement against corruption because, he said, the scourge will not stop on government order only.
Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Faizul Kabir, Superintendent of Police Sibgat Ullah, municipality Chairman Selina Hayat and Press Club President Rumon Reza also took part in the discussion.
