Take urgent steps so expats can return to work: Dhaka urges Doha
Dhaka has urged Doha to take urgent measures so that the stranded Bangladeshi expatriates can return to work in Qatar.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Jashim Uddin made the call at a meeting with Qatari Chief of Protocol Ambassador Ibrahim Fakhroo on Monday, said a statement of the foreign ministry.
In the meeting, Jashim Uddin highlighted the difficulties, including financial distress being faced by thousands of stranded Bangladeshis, who came home on leave, and urged for urgent action for their return to work.
They also discussed various issues pertaining to the interest of the Bangladeshi migrants working in Qatar.
Ambassador Fakhroo immediately drew the attention of the concerned authorities, said a statement of the foreign ministry.
