Man attacked by nephew over land dispute dies in Narail

A man was killed in an attack, allegedly by his nephew, over land dispute in Kalia upazila of Narail last night.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Jalil Munshi (52) of Uttor Dumuria village under Naragati Police Station in the upazila, said police.

Roksana Khanam, officer in-charge of Naragati Police Station, said there had been longstanding dispute over the ownership of a piece of land between Jalil and his brother's son Aynal Munshi (35) for long.

An altercation broke out between them around 9:00pm yesterday, OC Roksana said today.

At one stage, Aynal allegedly attacked Jalil with a spear, leaving him critically injured.

Relatives and neighbours rescued Jalil and took him to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said the OC.

Aynal went into hiding after the incident, the police official said.

No one filed any case over the incident till around 11:00am today, our Bagerhat correspondent reports quoting the OC.
