Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today took four suspended policemen in custody, on a four-day remand, for interrogation in a case filed over the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.

The four policemen are assistant sub-inspector Litan Miah and constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun.

A Rab team took them from Cox's Bazar district jail around 11:00am for further questioning in second phase, our Cox's Bazar correspondent reports quoting Rab officials.

They were first taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital from jail for health check-up and later taken to Rab-15 office in Cox's Bazar for questioning, the Rab officials said.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Khairul Islam, also investigation officer of the case, said the four accused were placed on four-day remand each by a court on August 24, and Rab today took them into their custody for interrogation.

Earlier, on August 12, a Cox's Bazar court placed the four policemen on seven-day remand each in the case.
