Even though many claim global warming and the entire concept of climate change to be a hoax, it is very evident how global warming is causing various disrupting changes around us.

We can manage to reduce our usage through several measures such as carrying mesh bags made out of "chot" or reusable light cotton bags during grocery shopping instead of using plastic bags. It might seem like a hassle at first, but just imagine how much plastic you are preventing yourself from using. Other ways to reduce waste includes avoiding the use of plastic containers and replacing them with glass mason jars. Not only are you massively contributing to stop climate change, but the delicate trinkets add an extra sense of aesthetic to your home. Recycle old items and try to minimise your waste as much as possible. Mason jars might be a little tricky to find in Dhaka, but you can also recycle and use old coffee glass jars to store spices.
Use environment friendly transportation
With the horrendous traffic in Dhaka city killing off days from our lives- using any other vehicle apart from cars seems like a relaxing idea. Yes, cars are comfortable and quick, but they are also harming the climate tremendously by emitting harmful gases. To reduce one's carbon footprint, it is crucial to use environmentally friendly transportation such as bikes, or even walking. It might seem time-consuming and strenuous at first, but it actually is good for your health and a brilliant technique to go green. Less driving means fewer emissions. Besides saving gasoline, walking and biking are great forms of exercise. Air travel leaves behind a huge carbon footprint. Before you book your next airline ticket, consider greener options such as buses or trains, or try vacationing closer to home. Use public transport or share your car with your colleagues and friends.
Colour it all green
A brilliant way to 'improve' one's diet is to obviously opt for organic and locally grown fruits and vegetables over canned products. As much as it seems like a great deal to have a garden for the Dhaka dwellers with insanely hectic schedules, having a garden; growing and eating organic and fresh vegetables is very healthy for yourself and the environment. Other ways through which we can fight off climate change in our day to day lives is embracing minimalism and saying 'no' to any sort of excessiveness. Try and minimise the use of air conditioners. To tackle with the heat, make sure your apartment is ventilated and use large table and ceiling fans. Make sure your switches are turned off when you are not using it and use low energy bulbs. Turn off all appliances and pull the plugs from their sockets when not in use.
