Around 150 passengers have remained stranded on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight since 9:00 pm (local time) last night (July 18, 2022) at the Kolkata Airport.

Passengers of the Dhaka-bound flight are not allowed to exit the aircraft. They were not served food causing immense suffering and having a hard time, a Biman passenger told The Daily Star.

The flight was supposed to depart from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport to Dhaka at 8:35 pm local time. However, just before the departure, the flight could not take off due to a technical error, a passenger told this correspondent.

After around an hour, the flight again prepared to depart for Dhaka. However, after reaching the runway, the flight again aborted citing a technical glitch, the passenger continued.

The Boeing 737 was later taken to the parking bay area. The flight did not take off as of 12:15 am (July 19, 2022) local time.

Several passengers fell ill as the air condition system of the aircraft was not working due to the unavailability of ground electricity.

Several patients on board the flight fell sick.

Biman's newly appointed MD and CEO Zahid Hossain did not respond to an SMS sent to him to know about the matter.
