Hockey legend Jummon Lusai passes away

Legendary hockey player Jummon Lusai passed away this afternoon at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He was 59.
The long-time national team player was kept on life support at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.  
Lusai was rushed to Bangladesh Medical College Hospital after he suffered a brain haemorrhage at Abahani Club premises in Dhanmondi on Friday.
Lusai was later shifted to the BSMMU where doctors declared him dead at 3:45pm, BSMMU Director Brig Gen (retd) Abdul Majid Bhuiyan told The Daily Star.
“He was on critical condition as the doctors apprehended that he suffered a brain stroke as well as a cardiac arrest,” said Abahani hockey team's manager Zaki Ahmed Ripon.
According to the doctors, the kidneys, liver, and brain of the iconic sportsman have been seriously affected.
His body will be taken to Sylhet, his home district, tomorrow for the funeral.
Officials of Abahani and Lusai had been living at the club tent for a long time while his wife and three children reside in Mizoram, India.
