Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today laid foundation stone of Kumudini International Institute of Medical Sciences and Cancer Research (KIIMS CaRe) in Narayanganj town today.
The Prime Minister unveiled the foundation stone plaque of KIIMS CaRe virtually from her official residence Gono Bhaban around 10:45am.
Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal, one of the most well-known philanthropic organisations in Bangladesh, organised the programme in Khanpur area, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.
While addressing the programme, the Prime Minister said Bangladesh will go one step ahead in healthcare sector once KIIMS CaRe is constructed.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque, Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Dr Selina Hayat Ivy, lawmakers of Narayanganj-5, 4, 3 and 2 -- Salim Osman, Shamim Osman, Liaqat Hossain Khoka and Nazrul Islam Babu respectively, Deputy Commissioner Mostain Billah, Superintendent of Police in Narayanganj Zayedul Islam and Managing Director of Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal Limited Rajiv Prasad Shaha were present on the occasion.
Kumudini International Institute of Medical Sciences and Cancer Research will be constructed on over 3.46 lakh square feet land of its own in Narayanganj under the supervision of Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal, its MD Rajiv Prasad said.
The specialised hospital will have 300 beds, cancer diagnostic and treatment facilities, medical college for MBBS and BDS courses, nursing institute, research centre, laboratory, library and hostel, he said.
