Covid vaccine supply from India will resume soon, hopes Health Minister
Health Minister Zahid Maleque hopes the Covid-19 vaccine supply from India will resume within a short time.
"India was the first to give us vaccines under contract. As the situation got worse there, they stopped supplying. I hope that -- in a very short time -- the supply will resume," Zahid Maleque said while addressing the Indian government's "Ambulance Handover Ceremony" this afternoon in Dhaka.
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, handed over 41 ambulances in the event and assured a donation of 68 more soon, according to a health ministry official.
In his speech, Zahid Maleque said that India provided support during the recent spike of Covid-19 cases by supplying oxygen. He said, "India has been always a trusted friend of Bangladesh. This relation, as it is today, will be strengthened in the days and decades to come."
In the same event, different Upazila Health Complexes and hospitals across the country received 81 more ambulances.
