Eradicate Aedes mosquito within 2 weeks to bring dengue under control: LGRD minister
Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tazul Islam today urged everyone to eradicate Aedes mosquitoes within two weeks to bring dengue under control.
"It is possible to solve problems such as dengue by forming committees by incorporating people of all walks of life within a ward," he said today at a meeting at the Nagar Bhaban on "dengue resistance and controlling Aedes mosquitoes".
"It is also possible to face any kind of problem if public representatives work collectively by engaging people," the minister said while directing all councillors and relevant officials of the two Dhaka city corporations on the dengue situation.
"Many dengue patients are hiding their addresses while taking admissions at hospitals, as a result, problems are arising in tackling Aedes. However, the health ministry, Local Government Division the two city corporations and the Directorate General of Health Services are working on it," the minister added.
"Without destroying the source of Aedes mosquitoes, it is not possible to control dengue. We will go door to door and destroy its breeding sources," said Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh at the meeting.
He urged city dwellers to provide information on dengue breeding grounds and Aedes larvae through the numbers -- 01709900888 and 02-9556014 from which will be active from tomorrow.
