Dengue fever: 3 dead, 288 hospitalised in a day

Three died while 288 more were hospitalised with dengue fever in the last 24 hours till 8 am today.
Among the 288 new cases, 56 are from outside Dhaka.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 14,509 were hospitalised this year. Of them, only 1,538 are from outside Dhaka.
With the new cases, a total of 4,153 were diagnosed during September alone.
At least 7,698 were hospitalised in August, 2,286 patients in July, 272 in June, and 43 were infected in May, added the DGHS.
A total of 57 people died of dengue infection in the country this year. Twelve people died in July, 34 in August, and 11 in September so far.
Among the deaths, 53 have died in Dhaka division, two in Chattogram division, one each in Rajshahi and Khulna division.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 1,256 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 189 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
