Dengue fever: 23 patients hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 23 dengue patients were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8:00 am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the new cases, only eight are outside of Dhaka.

With the new cases, a total of 671 people were diagnosed during the running month out of the 27,893 infected this year.

 Of the total infected, 4,541 are from outside Dhaka.

At least 3,567 dengue patients were hospitalised in November, 5,458 in October, 7,841 in September, 7,698  in August, 2,286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and the rest are from January to April, according to the DGHS.

A total of 101 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year. Twelve people died in July while 34 died in August, 23 in September, 22 in October, seven in November and three in December.

Among the deaths 92 have died in the Dhaka division, three in Mymensingh, two each in Chattogram and Khulna divisions and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 195 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 65 outside the capital, the DGHS data showed.
