
At least two dengue patients died and 207 patients were hospitalised in 24 hours preceding 8:00 am today, of whom 45 are from outside Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the new cases, a total of 2,139 were diagnosed during this month out of a total 20,336 infected. Of the total infected, 2726 are from outside Dhaka.
At least 7841 were diagnosed in September, 7698 in August, 2286 in July, 272 in June, 43 were infected in May and the rest were diagnosed between January to April, according to DGHS.
According to the DGHS, 78 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year, all of whom died between July, August, September and October.
Twelve people died in July, 34 died in August, 23 died in September and nine in October so far.
Among the deaths 73 have died in Dhaka division, two in Chattogram division and Khulna each and one in Rajshahi division.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 935 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 177 are being treated outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
