Dengue fever: 179 patients hospitalised in 24 hours
At least 179 patients were hospitalised in the 24 hours till 8:00 am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of them, 25 patients are outside Dhaka.
With the new cases, a total of 4,301 people has been diagnosed in the current month out of the total 22,498 infected this year.
Of the total infected, 3,180 patients are from outside Dhaka.
At least 7,841 were hospitalised in September, 7,698 were in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and the rest are from January to April, according to DGHS.
A total of 87 people has died of dengue infection in the country this year.
Twelve people died in July, 34 in August, 23 in September and 14 in October so far.
Among the deaths, 80 have died in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram and Khulna divisions and one each in Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Barishal divisions.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 840 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 160 outside the capital, the DGHS data showed.
