201 hospitalised with dengue in a single day
At least 201 dengue patients were hospitalised in the 24 hours preceding 8:00am today, including 61 cases from outside Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the new cases, 3,205 people were diagnosed with dengue this month out of a total 21,402 infected this year. Of the total infected, 2,982 are from outside Dhaka.
At least 7,841 patients were diagnosed in September, 7,698 were diagnosed in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May and the rest were infected from January till April, according to the DGHS.
The DGHS also said 83 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year between July and October.
Of the deaths, 12 were in July, 34 in August, 23 in September and 14 in October so far.
Among the deceased, 77 were from Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram and Khulna divisions, and one each in Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions.
Of the patients, 844 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 193 are being treated outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
