Positivity rate lowest in over 6 months
The Covid-19 positivity rate has gone down to 4.69 percent -- the lowest in the past six and half months.
Earlier on March 7, the positivity rate was 4.30 percent.
After the second wave of the pandemic began in the country from the second week of March, the positivity rate continued rising and reached its first peak at 23 percent on April 16.
It then went down to 7 percent in the middle of May.
From early August, the transmission of the virus started declining steadily.
In the past 24-hours till 8:00am yesterday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported 1,562 new Covid-19 cases after testing 33,327 samples countrywide.
With this, the total number of confirmed cases reached 15,45,800.
In the same period, 26 Covid-19 patients died in the country -- the lowest in four months, raising the total number deaths rose to 27,277, which is 1.76 percent of all confirmed cases.
