Daily deaths lowest in 3 months
The country recorded 38 deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday, the lowest daily death toll in the last three months.
On June 9, 36 people died from the highly transmissible virus, according to data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The Covid-19 situation is currently improving in the country as both infection and death rates are falling.
In the 24 hours, 2,325 more people tested positive for coronavirus, said the regular health bulletin of DGHS.
With the latest data on deaths and infections, 26,832 people have so far died and 15,27,215 have tested positive since the first cases were reported in the country on March 8, 2020.
Yesterday's positivity rate was 8.65 percent while the overall positivity rate stands at 16.60 percent. A total of 26,878 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.
At least 3,856 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 14,72,067 and the recovery rate at 96.39 percent.
Among deaths recorded in the those 24 hours, 17 died in Dhaka division, 10 in Chattogram, five in Khulna, two each in Rajshahi and Mymensingh, and one each died in Rangpur and Sylhet divisions.
The DGHS said among the overall 26,832 fatalities, 11,677 breathed their last in Dhaka division, 5,420 in Chattogram, 1,985 in Rajshahi, 3,484 in Khulna, 918 in Barishal, 1,207 in Sylhet, 1,328 in Rangpur and 813 in Mymensingh divisions.
Of yesterday's 38 deceased, 20 were men and 18 women. Of them, three were aged between 31 and 40; five between 41 and 50; six between 51 and 60; 10 between 61 and 70; eight between 71 and 80, and six between 81 and 90, added the release.
