Covid Update: 38 more die, 1,907 new cases found
Although the death toll dropped, the total number of daily coronavirus cases and infection rate increased yesterday.
At least 1,907 new infections were recorded in 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday, read a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the 29,756 samples tested, about 6.41 percent tested positive. The total number of people infected rose to 1,540,110, added the release.
On Thursday, a total of 1,862 cases was recorded and the infection rate was 5.98 percent.
Thirty-eight people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday, read a DGHS press release.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 27,147 and the death rate stands at 1.76 percent.
At least 2,919 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 14,97,009 and the recovery rate at 97.2 percent.
Among the 38 deceased, 13 were men and 25 were women. Of them, one was between 11 and 20 years old, one was between 21 and 30, two between 41 and 50, 15 between 51 and 60 and 19 were above 60 years old, added the release.
The country first recorded Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020 and the first death from the virus on March 18, 2020.
