Covid-19: Distribute free masks to ensure safety for all, says NTAC
The National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) today recommended distributing free facemasks among the general people to ensure safety for everyone.
It also recommended Covid-19 patients remain in isolation for 10 days after showing symptoms of the virus, said an NTAC press release signed by its President Prof Md Shahidullah this evening.
There is no need for quarantine of those who came into contact with someone infected with Covid-19 if they did not show symptoms of contracting the virus. But they will have to ensure wearing tight masks, it said.
The committee also recommended increasing surveillance at all ports of entry including airports to enforce the Covid-19 health guidelines properly.
NTAC also suggested ensuring emergency treatments for all patients, including Covid and non-Covid patients, at all government hospitals all the time.
"It is also recommended for taking steps connecting all stakeholders – the leaders of the transport owners association, shop owners association and restaurant owners association –- in a bid to implement the gazette notification issued by the Cabinet Division," added the release.
Besides, public representatives and religious leaders were urged to motivate people to wear masks properly and maintain the other health guidelines.
