Covid-19: 26 die, 1,555 new cases in 24 hours
Twenty-six people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With them, the total number of deaths reached 27,251 and the death rate stands at 1.76 percent.
At least 1,555 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 15,44,238, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 5.67 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.32 percent.
A total of 27,431 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 1,565 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,03,106 and the recovery rate at 97.34 percent.
Among the 26 deceased, 11 were men and 15 women. Of them one was between 31-40; three were between 41-50; nine within 51-60, six were within 61-70, three between 71-80 and four 81-90 years old, added the release.
