Covid-19: 24 dead, 1,144 new cases in 24 hours
Twenty-four people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With them, the total number of deaths reached 27,337 and the death rate stands at 1.77 percent.
At least 1,144 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 15,48,320, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 4.61 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.21 percent.
A total of 24,820 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 1,653 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,07,789 and the recovery rate at 97.38 percent.
Among the 24 deceased, 10 were men and 14 women. Of them two were between 21-30 years old, two were within 31-40; two were between 41-50; seven within 51-60, seven were within 61-70, and four between 71-80 years old, added the release.
