Air Travellers: Ten pvt labs can give them Covid reports
The health ministry yesterday nominated 10 private RT-PCR labs in the capital for issuing air passengers Covid-19 test reports.
A circular signed by the ministry's Deputy Secretary (health services division) Bilkis Begum read that passengers would be permitted to go to foreign destinations with Covid-19 negative reports from these labs.
The circular, dated on October 18, was published on the health service division's website yesterday.
The nominated labs are icddr,b, Universal Medical College Hospital and ideSHi in Mohakhali; the DMFR Molecular Lab and Diagnostics, Lab Aid Ltd, and Popular Diagnostic Center in Dhanmondi; Square Hospital in Panthapath; Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara; Prava Diagnostic in Banani; and the United Hospital in Gulshan.

Eighteen people died from Covid-19 in the country in the last 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With this, the total number of deaths rose to 5,699 and the death rate now stands at 1.46 percent.
In the same 24 hours, new 1,380 people were tested positive for the viral infection in 109 rt-PCR labs, taking the total number of people infected to 391,586.
Bangladesh is currently 17th in the list of worst affected countries in the world in terms of the number of cases.
The position is one step behind Italy and one step ahead of Germany, according to worldometers.info.
Against 13,611 tests in those 24 hours, the positivity rate was 10.14 percent.
With this, the total positivity rate reached at 17.86 percent.
Meanwhile, 1,542 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries to 307,141.
With this, the recovery rate reached at 78.44 percent.
Among the 18 deceased, 14 were males and four were females.
