Class XI admission seekers will have to submit their online applications between August 9 and 20 in the first phase, authorities said today.

In a directive, Inter-education Board Coordination Sub-committee chief Prof Ziaul Haque said that result of the first phase of online applications will be published on August 25.

The second round of applications will be taken from August 31 to September 2 and its outcome will be published on September 4, according to the directive.

The third phase will run between September 7 and 8 and its results will be out on September 10.

This year the admission process will be fully online.

During the three-phase admission process, students can apply to maximum 10 colleges or madrasas, with a fee of Tk 150 for each, said officials.

According to the results of SSC and equivalent examinations, a total of 16,90,529 students were successful. Majority of them will try to get admitted into colleges.

Usually a new academic year for HSC and equivalent courses begins on July 1 each year. But this year it could not happen due to the coronavirus situation.

All educational institutions in the country have remained closed since March 17 due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The government has now extended the closure until August 6 to stem the spread of the virus.

Education boards were scheduled to start the online admission process on May 10, but they could not do so as this year's SSC and equivalent exams' results were published on May 31.

Officials later expected they would be able to start the admission process on June 6-8. But they could not follow the timetable due to the coronavirus situation.

The government took the decision yesterday that it would start the online process for enrolling students to Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent courses for the next academic session from August 9, amid the pandemic.
