Herd of 20 elephants returns to Cox’s Bazar forest after 2 days
A herd of around 20 elephants, that had gone to Sujapur village under Fasiakhali union in Cox's Bazar in search of food on August 26, returned to Fasiakhali Reserve Forest last night.
Hundreds of people gathered to see the elephants.
Touhidul Islam, divisional forest officer of Cox's Bazar North Forest Department, told The Daily Star that his team went to the spot, along with Nature and Wildlife Conservation Department officials and Elephant Response Team, to guide the elephants back to the forest area.
"After evacuating crowds from the site, we tried to guide the elephants back into the forest. Three baby elephants were also seen in the herd," he said.
"Last night, the elephants returned to the forest after two days", he added.
