26 rescued wild animals released in Sundarbans

A total of 26 wild animals of different species rescued from different parts of the country have been released in Karamjal of the Sundarbans.
The animals were released by the Rapid Action Battalion, Coast Guard along with the forest department at noon today at the Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Centre, reports our Bagerhat correspondent.
Among the animals are a fishing cat, a hedgehog, two monkeys, one ganda gokul, one python, two cobras, two grey cranes, six white-breasted waterhens (dahuk), one cormorant (pankouri) and nine Sindhi turtles.
"We rescued these 26 wild animals of 10 species throughout January from places including Monirampur in Jashore, Munshiganj union in Satkhira and Kapilmoni in Paikgachha of Khulna on different dates," said Rab-6 Khulna Company Commander and Superintendent of Police Al Asad Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam.
"Those who possessed these animals have been jailed and fined," he said.
Earlier on November 27 last year, 43 wild animals of 16 species were rescued from Chandra Mahal Ecopark in Bagerhat and released into the Karamjal of Sundarbans.
