Sample of Russian crude oil to be tested in Ctg
Russian state-owned oil supplier Zarubezhneft JSC has sent samples of its crude oil to Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).
Representatives of the Bangladeshi agent of the Russian company the National Electric Bd are scheduled to deliver the consignment of 50kg sample to Eastern Refinery today, Septenber 1, 2022, for testing, said a top BPC official, reports our Chattogram correspondent.
Russian state-owned oil supplier wants to export oil to Bangladesh. For this purpose, they sent their crude oil samples to BPC for testing recently by the air, a top BPC official wishing anonymity told The Daily Star.
The consignment was at Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport for some days. It will be delivered to the Eastern Refinery (ERL) in Chattogram this morning by the officials of the local agent of the Russian company.
When contacted, Managing Director of Eastern Refinery Mohammad Lokman told The Daily Star that a sample of crude oil has been sent from Russia. He added that they will get the shipment today.
The BPC official also said several Russian private oil suppliers have sent proposals to BPC to supply fuel at a low price. The matter is being considered by the authorities.
