Govt to take strict action if artificial crisis created over fuel: ministry
Government will take strict legal action against anyone trying to create an artificial fuel crisis or selling fuel at higher prices, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources today.
The statement added that the government did not increase the price of petrol and octane, and no petrol pumps would be allowed to sell octane over Tk 89 per litre and petrol over Tk 87 per litre.
The fuel supply across the country is going to be uninterrupted as there is enough stock, it read.
"The total stock of octane and petrol as of November 9, 2021 was more than 55,800 metric tonnes. As per the BPC's import schedule, about 19,000 metric tonnes of octane have already been imported while another 20,000 metric tonnes are being imported in November. Next month, the BPC will import another 65,000 metric tonnes of octane," read the statement.
"On the other hand, the entire demand for petrol is met by domestic production. The demand of petrol and octane can be easily met by existing stock along with import plans," it added.
