2nd highest alert at Mongla port, goods handling halted

Due to the adverse weather conditions brought on by Cyclone Sitrang, loading and unloading of goods at both domestic and foreign commercial ships at Mongla port have been halted.

Loading and unloading of goods was halted after the second highest alert--'Alert-3'--was issued at Mongla port on Monday afternoon.

Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, Chairman of the port authority told The Daily Star, "We are coordinating with Navy, Coast Guard and other concerned port users in preparation for Cyclone Sitrang."
