Artist Mahmudul Haque on life support
Renowned artist Professor Mahmudul Haque has been put on life support.
The news about the artiste's deteriorating health condition was posted on social media by noted director Animesh Aich.
"Dear professor and renowned artist Mahmudul Haque is currently put on life support. This has truly broken me apart," the post read.
The artist obtained a master's degree in Fine Arts from Tsukuba University in 1984 and was a teacher at the Department of Printmaking of the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, for decades. He was also the Director General of Bangladesh National Museum and Chief Coordinator of Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh, one of the oldest and most prestigious art biennales in Asia.
For his excellence and contribution in the art arena, Mahmudul Haque was honoured with many prestigious awards, including Shilpakala Award, 10th National Art Exhibition in 1992, and Honourable Mention Award, 8th Asian Art Biennale, 1997 and many more.
