Dhaka’s Wari to go under lockdown from July 4
Government is set to put Dhaka's Wari area under a 21-day complete lockdown from July 4 to curb coronavirus transmission there.
Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said this after holding a meeting at Nagar Bhaban today.
The neighbourhoods which will come under complete lockdown are: Tipu Sultan Road, Jahangir Road, Dhaka-Sylhet Highway (Joykali Mondir to Baldha Garden), Lalmini Road, Hore Road, War Road, Rankin Road and Nawab Road under ward no. 41.
The lockdown will be enforced from 6:00am on next Saturday and will continue until July 25.
Taposh said there are 46 coronavirus patients in the area and they hope this will come down to zero after the lockdown.
The mayor said they will be guided by the experience of Rajabazar lockdown to make it successful. Residents will be able to get food through online vendors and they will also distribute food among poor if necessary, he said.
The treatment for Covid-19 patients will be ensured and Mohanagor Hospital under DSCC will be used as the isolation centre.
The mayor said they are going for the complete lockdown in the area after receiving a letter from LGRD ministry yesterday.
