Youth killed over land dispute
A youth was killed by his rivals allegedly over a land dispute in Narsingdi Sadar upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased, Russell Mridha, 34, was son of Hanif Mridha of Baghabo area in the upazila.
Victim's brother Tarek Mridha said there had been a feud between his family and one of their neighbours Belayet for nearly 15 years over the ownership of a disputed land.
As a sequel to the conflict, Belayet's men waylaid Russell near UMC Jute Mills area while he was returning home around 10:00pm and stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him severely injured.
Hearing cry for help, local people rescued Russell and took him to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead, OC of Sadar Model Police Station Biplob Kumar Dutta said.
