Youth jailed for life term for killing schoolgirl
A Kurigram court on Monday jailed a youth until his natural death in connection with a case for killing a teenage girl in Roumari upazila of the district in 2015.
Kurigram District and Sessions Judge Abdul Mannan handed down the verdict in presence of the convict Anarul Haque, 24, of Batargram village in the upazila.
Besides, the main accused in the case Ayub Ali, 20, fell unconscious and drowned while washing his blood-stained clothes in a local waterbody soon after the murder.
According to the case statement, Ayub and with his accomplice Anarul went to the house of Arjina Khatun on June 14 in 2015 as she refused to accept Ayub's love proposal.
The duo killed the girl by slitting her throat with a knife when none of her family members were present.
Meanwhile, soon after the incident some of the villagers saw Ayub and Anarul fleeing the spot, police said.
Victim's mother Sajida Khatun later filed a murder case with Roumari Police Station accusing Anarul and two to three other unnamed people.
