UN Peacekeeping: 140-member police contingent leaves for Mali

A 140-member contingent of Bangladesh Police left Dhaka via a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines last night to join a UN peacekeeping mission in Bamako, the capital of Mali.
Deputy Commander, ANM Masuf Abdullah, additional superintendent of police, is leading the 70-member Bangladesh Formed Police Unit (BANFPU-1) seventh rotation while additional SP Saifuzzaman is leading the BANFPU-2 third rotation.
Mazharul Islam, additional inspector general of Police; Tawfique Mahbub Chowdhury, deputy inspector general (Media and Planning) and officials of the UN Affairs wing saw them off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said a press release of Police Headquarters.
Earlier on December 4, a 140-member contingent of police left Dhaka to join peace keeping mission in Bamako.
Police members have been serving in the UN peacekeeping mission in Bamako since 2013, the press release added.
