Tea stall owner hacked to death in Bagerhat’s Morrelganj

A tea stall owner was hacked to death in Bagerhat's Morrelganj last night. His body was later dumped in a canal.

The victim was identified as Abu Hanif Fakir (25) from Purba Kharikhali village, our correspondent reports quoting Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Morrelgonj Police Station.

He was stabbed by unidentified people at some time on Wednesday night, the OC said.

On information, police recovered the body from a canal this noon. 

The victim's brother Salam Fakir said some people called his brother at night and stabbed him indiscriminately leaving him dead on the spot.

OC Monirul said the body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy. They have also launched an operation to arrest the those involved in the incident.

The process of filing a case is underway, he added.
