Show cause notice issued to headmaster

The district education officer (DEO) yesterday issued a show cause notice to the headmaster of Bhelabari High School in Aditmari upazila under the district for illegally recruiting a teacher and asked the school managing committee (SMC) to take legal action in this regard. 
Without maintaining the stipulated process including discussing the matter in the SMC meeting, advertisement for the post, and consulting with the teachers, the headmaster recruited one Ferdousi Begum as teacher, said school teachers and SMC members.
The headmaster submitted a letter to the district education office seeking Monthly Payment Order (MPO) in favour of the 'newly recruited' teacher a month ago, said DEO officials. 
The DEO visited the school last week and learnt that the SMC members and teachers of the school were totally unaware about the recruitment. 
Confirming the matter, Lalmonirhat DEO Moslem Uddin said, "I have served a letter to the school managing committee to take legal step against the guilty headmaster by a week. If they fail to do so, I will write to the director general of the education directorate."
Talking to this correspondent, several teachers said they did not know the newly recruited female teacher as she never came to school.
All the 22 assistant teachers of the school are demanding removal of the headmaster as he has been doing malpractice for long, they said.  
"The school headmaster made the recruitment illegally, without informing me and other members of the committee. We will take legal step against the guilty headmaster after an SMC meeting within three days," said Akkas Miah, president of the SMC.  
Contacted, headmaster Anisul Haque declined to talk with the journalist in this regard.
