Science building of Alipur Rahmania School in Chattogram inaugurated

The building constructed with the funding of India will play a positive role in improving quality of education of local students, said speakers who attended the virtual inaugural ceremony organised by the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh.

Attending the ceremony as the chief guest, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said construction of this school building will benefit students as well as the entire village, said a statement of the Indian High Commission.

Apart from the construction of science buildings, Tk 7 lakh has also been allocated for computers and other educational materials, which will help improve the school's quality, he said.

The building was constructed under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) Scheme, funded by India. The total cost of the project is Tk 51.43 lakh.

Under HICDP, India extends support to building projects of differing capacities in various sectors such as education, IT, health, restoration of museums, cultural and heritage structures, disaster management, urban development.

Mahmud said the government of India has continued to contribute to the economic development of Bangladesh since its independence. At present, there is multidimensional cooperation between the two nations.

Anisul Islam Mahmud MP said, "We hope that this kind of cooperation from India will continue in the future. On behalf of the people of Hathazari, I would like to thank the Indian government."

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Riva Ganguly Das said India-Bangladesh relations have reached new heights and both countries have expanded their cooperation to cover a wide range of areas.

"Besides interaction at the government level, India is also undertaking various capacity building projects covering social and human development aspects which are of direct benefit to local communities in Bangladesh through the High Impact Community Development Projects.

"We are very pleased to have assisted in the construction of the Science Block building of Alipur Rahmania School & College, Hathazari, Chattogram."
