Rangpur Medical College interns call off strike

Interns at Rangpur Medical College Hospital called off their strike tonight.
The decision came at a meeting between the representatives of interns and hospital staff in the presence of Hospital Management Committee President Rahgir Almahe Ershad, also member of parliament from Rangpur-3 constituency, said Dr Rustam Ali, acting director of the hospital.
The interns announced the withdrawal of the strike around 6:00pm, our Dinajpur correspondent reports quoting the acting director.
Interns at Rangpur Medical College Hospital went on a strike last night over an altercation with a staff member of the hospital about discharging some patients.
According to sources, a grade-four employee went to an on-duty intern to get the latter's signature on some discharge letters at noon yesterday. When the intern said he was busy, an altercation took place between them.
Following the altercation, interns went on work abstention from last night to this evening.
