Miscreants cut down 800 mango trees in Jashore
Miscreants felled nearly 800 mango trees on 20 bighas of land in Jhikargachha upazila of Jashore last night.
The trees of the orchards owned by 16 farmers were cut down by criminals in Kharusa village in the dead of night, said Mizanur Rahman, in-charge of Shewardah Police Centre in Jhikargachha.
Moudud Ahmed Dipu, one of the farmers, lodged a complaint with Jhikargachha Police Station this morning.
Police are looking into the matter, added the police official.
Talking to our Benapole correspondent, Moudud said miscreants cut down his 120 mango trees on three bighas of land in the area.
Later, he came to know that the mango trees, owned by 15 more farmers, also were felled, he said.
The affected farmers said this year buds grew in many trees and those were supposed to bear fruits.
