Man impersonating intelligence official held in Noakhali
A joint team of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) and police have arrested a person who harassed people by introducing himself as an NSI official from Noakhali's Shonaimuri upazila this evening.
Shariful Islam (23), who hails from Mahutola area of the upazila, was arrested from Thanarhat area of the upazila, reports our Noakhali correspondent quoting ABM Faruk, deputy director of NSI Noakhali office.
On information that Shariful extorted, threatened and harassed people in many ways by introducing himself as an NSI high official, the joint team conducted a drive and arrested him, said the NSI official.
A fake NSI identity card and an appointment letter were recovered from his possession, Faruk said, adding that a case was filed against him with Shonaimuri police station in this connection.
The accused confessed to his crime during the primary interrogation, said Mohammad Gias Uddin, officer-in-charge of Shonaimuri police station.
The OC said they will produce the accused before a Noakhali court tomorrow.
