Major (retd) Sinha murder: 7 accused sent to jail after remand ends

Seven accused in Major (retd) Sinha murder case have been sent to jail today after their week-long remand ended.
The court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah of Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar passed the order after Rapid Action Battalion produced them before the court around 11:00am, said Khayrul Islam, senior assistant superintendent of police and investigation official of the case.
The order to send them back to jail was passed as Rab did not seek to extend their remand, the IO said.
The seven accused are Assistant Sub-inspector Md Liton Mia, Constable Safarun Karim, Constable Kamal Hosen, Constable Abdullah Al Mamun and three witnesses of the case filed by police following the incident of killing—Nurul Amin, Nizam Uddin and Md Ayesh.
Sinha, who served in the Special Security Force (SSF), was killed in police firing at Baharchhara police check post on Marine Drive road in Teknaf on July 31, triggering angry reactions on social media with many decrying it as police excess.
