Implicating minor in cattle theft case: HC summons Jaintapur's BGB Nayed Subedar
The High Court today summoned Nayeb Subedar Md Shahab Uddin of Sylhet's Jaintapur BGB camp, directing him to appear before it on October 7 for implicating a fourth-grader in a cattle theft case showing him as 19-years-old.
Subedar Shahab Uddin has been asked to explain why he implicated the minor boy in this case, Deputy Attorney General Sarwar Hossain Bappi told The Daily Star.
The DAG said the HC assumed that the accused boy might be 12 years' old and also asked the boy to be present in the court on the same day.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman also granted eight weeks' anticipatory bail to 10 accused of the case including the minor boy, who is in class four at Shikhon School run by Brack.
The bench passed the order after hearing a petition filed by 10 accused including trader Saidul Islam seeking anticipatory bail in the case. They also appeared before the HC bench for bail today.
They said in the bail petition that Saidul Islam of Khilatail area in Jaintapur bought 20 buffaloes for business purpose.
But, the BGB members on September 13 detained the buffaloes and its Nayeb Subedar Md Shahab Uddin filed a case with Jaintapur Police Station against 17 people including Saidul and his family members and relatives and eight to 10 unknown persons on charge of lifting 15 buffaloes.
In the case, Shahab Uddin also said the accused have prevented the BGB men from discharging their duties.
The accused recently filed the petition seeking anticipatory bail in the case. Advocate Md Jahangir Hossain appeared for the accused petitioner.
