Illegal entry: India’s BSF hands over eight Bangladeshis to BGB
Eight Bangladeshis, who had entered India illegally earlier this month, were handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) by India's Border Security Force, a statement by the Indian paramilitary force said today.
Of the eight, six were arrested last night for illegally fishing in Indian waters along the international boundary in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, the statement by the BSF said, adding, "as there is a ban on Hilsa fishing in Bangladesh from October 14 to November 4, they had entered Indian waters."
The two others -- a farmer and a teenager -- were arrested last week for entering India without valid papers, the BSF statement said.
BSF troops handed the eight Bangladeshis to the BGB last night, it said, adding that such actions would build confidence among the population living along the border and improve the overall security scenario in the area.
