Train communication between Dhaka and Narayanganj remained suspended for one hour following derailment of four compartments of a metre-gauge train in the city this noon.
No casualty was reported, our local correspondent reports.
Quoting witnesses, Station Master of Narayanganj Central Railway Station Golam Mostafa said that the passenger train departed from Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station for Narayanganj around 11:40am.
When it reached rail gate 2 in Narayanganj city, four wheels of its four compartments derailed, he said.
"We informed a rescue team in Dhaka after the incident," he said adding that it may take till evening to resume train service.
The schedule of two trains have been changed following the derailment, the official added.
