Delhi has vowed to stand "shoulder to shoulder" with Dhaka against terrorism, the neighbouring country said today in view of the latest spate of attacks in Bangladesh.

"We need to adopt zero tolerance policy and a comprehensive approach in fighting terrorism at all levels," India's Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swarajsaid in a statement today.

Her words mirrored Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government's "zero tolerance against terrorism" policy that the premier spoke of numerous times.

The statement, dated today, opened with the condemnation of the "Islamic State attack" on a cafe in Dhaka on July 1 that ended in the killing of 20 hostages.

Barely a week into the attack, yesterday, armed assailants tried to foil the largest Eid congregation in Sholakia. Four people, including two policemen, were killed in the attack.

"This has shown us that terrorism has no religion and no faith. I am confident that the government of Banlgadesh will do its utmost to bring those responsible," she said in the statement.
