Cox’s Bazar court orders charge framing against 101 drug dealers
A Cox's Bazar court has ordered for the charges to be framed against 101 drug dealers, who had surrendered before the home minister in 2019, in a narcotics case.
Judge Md Ismail Hossain of Cox's Bazar District and Sessions Judge's Court passed the order yesterday against the 101 accused and also rejected their bail prayers, Public Prosecutor Advocate Faridul Alam told The Daily Star.
A total of 102 drug dealers had surrendered at a programme held to this end on February 16, 2019, in presence of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and the then inspector general of police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary, at Teknaf High School field. Around 3.5 lakh yaba pills, and 36 arms and ammunitions were recovered from them during the surrender.
They were shown arrested in two drugs and arms cases, and sent to jail. Later one of them died in jail while police later pressed charges against the other 101.
