BGB recovers yaba worth Tk 10 crore in Cox’s Bazar
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 3,50,000 yaba pills, worth Tk 10 crore, at Hnila union adjacent to Naf River under Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar last night.
No arrest was made in connection with the recovery, our correspondent said quoting Lt Col Mohammad Foisol Khan, captain of BGB-2 battalion.
On information that a huge consignment of yaba pills will enter Bangladesh from Myanmar through Naf River, a patrol team of BGB took position at the area, he said.
"At around 9:00pm, some people on a boat were seen heading towards Kewra jungle," the BGB official said, adding that when the BGB team asked them to stop, they fled the area with the boat and went into Myanmar territory.
Later, BGB team searched the jungle and got four plastic bags where they recovered 3.5 lakh pieces of yaba, he said.
The BGB team conducted several operations to arrest the yaba smugglers but failed, he said.
